Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) is a fabric made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is a plastic.
PET is a synthetic material made from ethylene glycol and dimethyl terephthalate, both of which are extracted from petroleum. It is made from the same materials as original polyester fiber, but the recycled version of the fabric is mainly extracted from discarded transparent plastic water bottles.

How is rPET made?
The process of making RPET starts with collecting the source of PET, in this case, plastic water bottles.
Step one: Collect PET bottles and sterilize them.
Step two: Dry the bottles and crush them into small pieces the size of chips.
Step three: Heat the PET chips and pass them through a spinneret to form long filament yarns.
Step four: Wind the polyester yarns onto a spool and pass through a texturing machine to create a fluffy texture.
Step five: Then, make the polyester yarn into a bundle, dye it the desired color, and weave it into fabric.
